Vetpure Disinfectant: Stabilized Chlorine Dioxide Powder

Vetpure Disinfectant is a nano-encapsulated, stabilized chlorine dioxide powder that dissolves to at least 98% ClO2 purity and stays stable in solution for up to one month when properly stored. It is built for animal housing, equipment, footbaths and water systems, where organic load and by-product formation limit chlorine-based programs.

How chlorine dioxide works

Chlorine dioxide is a selective oxidant. It reacts by electron transfer with amino acids such as cysteine, tryptophan and tyrosine and with membrane components, rather than by chlorine substitution. Because it does not chlorinate organic matter, it forms no trihalomethanes (THMs), haloacetic acids (HAAs) or haloacetonitriles (HANs), and its activity is less dependent on pH than hypochlorous acid across the range found in farm water. The main by-products are chlorite and chlorate, which is why drinking-water use is governed by residual limits.

What the encapsulation changes

Conventional chlorine dioxide is either generated on site from two precursors or sold as a stabilized chlorite that must be activated with acid. Both routes vary in yield and purity. Vetpure holds the precursor inside a multi-layer encapsulate as a dry powder, so it ships and stores without liquid handling, then releases chlorine dioxide at a defined purity on dissolution. The solution holds for up to one month, which lets a farm mix a batch and use it through a cleandown cycle.

Encapsulation stabilizes chlorine dioxide in powder form so it dissolves on demand at high purity rather than being generated on site.

Where it is used

Typical uses are terminal cleandown of broiler and layer houses, disinfection of hard surfaces, equipment and vehicles, footbath and wheel-dip programs, and water-line treatment against biofilm. Kennels, equine stables and hatcheries follow the same principles at smaller scale. Dilution, contact time and the organisms claimed are set by the registered label in each jurisdiction. The Dilution and Dose Calculator applies those label rates to your tank or line volume. In poultry, it is typically applied after dry cleaning and washing, when organic load is lowest.

Label claims and supply

Antimicrobial claims against named bacteria, viruses or fungi are valid only where the product registration in that jurisdiction lists them. Our pathogen pages explain chlorine dioxide chemistry and the published literature, and they defer to the label. Vetpure Disinfectant is supplied through veterinary and agricultural distributors. Contact us for the current registration status, SDS and pack formats in your market. Buyers receive batch certificates of purity on request, and technical staff support protocol setup for new sites and new distributors.

Key facts

How our delivery technology applies

The active is not new; the delivery is. Encapsulating the precursor in biopolymer layers keeps it inert and dry until water is added, then releases chlorine dioxide at a defined purity rather than the variable yield of acid-activated chlorite. Stability in solution for up to one month turns a mix-and-use-immediately chemical into one that can be batched for a full cleandown cycle.
